Fingerpainting
I was still living in London in 2001. My wife and I had just moved into our first home and got a call from a friend telling us to turn the TV on just in time to see the second tower collapse. Now I walk past the site every day on my way to work and it’s an object lesson in the truism that people can get used to anything. That’s why this photo is so important. It was taken from the International Space Station and if it doesn’t remind you of the scale of what happened on that day, I don’t know what will.
